# Amazon's Zoox Launches Robotaxi Service in Las Vegas with Free Rides

September 17, 2025 (Las Vegas, NV) – Amazon-owned Zoox has officially launched its fully autonomous robotaxi service in Las Vegas, offering free rides to the public along key areas of the city’s entertainment district. The launch marks Zoox’s first public deployment following extensive testing over the past two years.

“We’re excited to bring our fully driverless ride-hailing service to Las Vegas,” said a Zoox spokesperson. “This service allows residents and visitors alike to experience the future of urban mobility safely and conveniently.”

The robotaxis, which operate without steering wheels or pedals, can carry up to four passengers at a time. Initially, rides are available through the Zoox app to five designated locations, including Resorts World, the Luxor hotel, and the New York-New York hotel, with trips covering up to three miles (4.8 kilometers).

Key Highlights of the Launch

  • Zoox robotaxis now serving the public in Las Vegas for free
  • Vehicles carry up to four passengers without a steering wheel
  • Initial service covers five major locations along the Las Vegas Strip
  • Free rides offered for the first few months to promote the service
  • Future expansion planned to San Francisco, Austin, and Miami

Zoox aims to manufacture up to 10,000 robotaxis annually at its Hayward, California facility, supporting broader expansion into major urban markets. The company plans to eventually transition from free rides to a paid service with pricing comparable to traditional taxis and ride-hailing platforms like Uber and Lyft.
