Xiaomi Deploys Humanoid Robots on SU7 Production Line for Flexible Manufacturing

Xiaomi has deployed its humanoid robot on the SU7 electric vehicle production line, completing complex flexible workpiece handling tasks after six months of focused factory training.
The Beijing-based technology company has rapidly scaled the robot’s capabilities from high-reliability screw-driving to dexterous, whole-body operations, positioning Xiaomi as an emerging player in industrial humanoid automation.
"The activity on the SU7 production line is part of our ongoing embodied intelligence program to mature humanoid robot capabilities and demonstrate readiness for real industrial manufacturing environments. The humanoid robot is absolutely critical to proving the maturity of whole-body control, flexible manipulation, and AI-driven automation technologies," a Xiaomi robotics spokesperson said.
Xiaomi’s robot completed center-console side-panel sorting using dual-arm coordination, whole-body motion and proprioceptive force sensing to grasp, reorient, and place soft, irregular panels into fixtures.
It also performs box folding and recycling tasks that demand fingertip force control, synchronized bimanual manipulation, and line-rhythm coordination while multiple robots operate continuously.
A company representative noted that force-sensitive active compliance enables the robot to detect resistance, adapt mid-task, and retry placements—capabilities that differentiate it from fixed-position industrial manipulators.
Xiaomi plans further software and AI training to improve autonomy, manipulation accuracy, and integration across additional assembly stations, while expanding deployments and iterating hardware for sustained production use.
The rapid transition from simple screw insertion to flexible workpiece handling in six months signals accelerating competition in humanoid factory automation and suggests embodied AI may reach practical manufacturing roles sooner than many expected.
