Unitree Robotics IPO Oversubscribed More Than 5,000 Times as Investors Target Humanoid Robotics

Unitree Robotics' initial public offering has been oversubscribed more than 5,000 times as investors show strong interest in one of China's best-known humanoid robotics companies.
The Hangzhou-based company priced its IPO at 150.8 yuan ($22.4) per share, raising approximately $900 million and reaching a valuation of around $9 billion, according to CNBC.
Demand for the online retail tranche of the Shanghai STAR Market offering exceeded available shares by more than 5,000 times, resulting in an allocation rate of just 0.018 percent.
Strategic investors in the IPO reportedly include Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek.
Unitree is expected to begin trading later this month, becoming the first humanoid robotics company to list on mainland China.
The strong investor response highlights growing market interest in humanoid robotics, a sector attracting significant investment as companies develop robots designed to perform tasks in factories and workplaces.
Unitree has gained industry recognition through its G1 and H-series humanoid robots, along with its existing range of quadruped robots. The company's demonstrations featuring running, dancing, fighting, and recovery movements have increased public awareness of humanoid robotics capabilities.
However, questions remain regarding how quickly these capabilities can translate into commercially useful applications. Unitree has acknowledged in its prospectus that large-scale adoption may take longer than expected, with robotic hands still facing challenges related to precision and durability.
The company enters the public market with expanding sales, although increased research and development and marketing spending have affected profitability. The listing could also be followed by additional robotics IPOs from competitors including AgiBot and Leju Robotics.
