KUKA Achieves First Robotics Security Level 2 Certification Under IEC 62443-4-2

KUKA has become the first robotics manufacturer to achieve Security Level 2 certification according to IEC 62443-4-2 for its iiQKA.OS2 operating system and KR C5 controller platform. The certification marks a major milestone in securing connected industrial automation systems against evolving cyber threats.

As manufacturing environments become increasingly digital, connected and software-controlled, cybersecurity has become a critical requirement alongside functional safety. KUKA's certified robot systems are designed to protect communication interfaces, data flows and access controls within connected production environments, addressing the specific challenges of self-hosted automation infrastructure.

The iiQKA.OS2 platform achieves Security Level 2 certification while also meeting requirements under Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 Cyber Resilience, Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 for machinery, and EN ISO 10218-1:2025. Safety functions including Normal Stop, Restart Interlock and comprehensive axis monitoring ensure production systems operate reliably and in compliance with global regulatory standards.

In combination with the KR C5 controller family, the platform delivers improved performance, intuitive operation and efficient processes compared with previous generations.
