ACE Robotics Chairman Predicts 'ChatGPT Moment' for Robot Brains by End of 2027

ACE Robotics Chairman Wang Xiaogang has predicted that humanoid robot brains could see a major breakthrough by late 2027, comparable to the dramatic impact ChatGPT had on artificial intelligence, driven by advancements in world models and environmental data capture.

Speaking at the World Robot Conference in Beijing, Wang—who is also a co-founder of Chinese AI visual recognition pioneer SenseTime—stated that while the technical inflection point for embodied intelligence could arrive by the end of next year, broad commercial implementation across global sectors would likely require an additional four to five years.

Wang Xiaogang, Chairman of ACE Robotics, stated:

"We expect to reach the 'ChatGPT moment' for embodied intelligence by the end of next year, driven by world models and environmental data capture. Even if we reach that inflection point by late 2027, it will likely take another four to five years to see broad commercial implementation of embodied world models across sectors."

ACE Robotics, founded in July 2025 and backed by Ant Group and SenseTime, raised over $100 million in the first half of 2026 through multiple financing rounds and intends to launch an initial public offering as early as Chinese listing rules permit.

The company's open-source Kairos-4B model currently ranks first globally on public benchmarks, outperforming larger world models such as Nvidia's Cosmos 3 and Ant Group's Lingbot despite operating on a relatively lightweight four-billion parameter architecture.

Wang emphasized that acquiring high-quality real-life training data remains a critical operational bottleneck for embodied AI foundation models, noting that the entire industry has accumulated roughly 100,000 hours of physical data over recent years.

To rapidly bridge this data gap, ACE is deploying lightweight sensors on production line workers, expecting to accumulate tens of millions of hours of real-world operational data within two years.

The enterprise plans to deploy its embodied AI software across commercial settings like unmanned retail stores, hotel services, and instant-delivery warehouses using humanoid platforms from manufacturers including Unitree, AgiBot, and Fourier, targeting 1,000 stores within one year and 10,000 within two years.
