Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany-based NEURA Robotics on Friday, October 10, to jointly develop advanced technologies, components, and sub-assemblies, as well as to industrialize robots and humanoids in India and other mutually agreed markets.
“With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, advanced perception, and control technologies, as well as rapidly decreasing computing costs, the world is entering a new era of intelligent automation. This technological leap is fueling unprecedented growth in both industrial robotics and humanoid robots, transforming manufacturing and logistics industries globally,” the company stated in an exchange filing on Friday.
Sona Comstar operates in the mobility sector with a focus on electric, personalized, intelligent, and connected technologies. Its offerings include electric powertrains encompassing motors, inverters, and gearboxes. The partnership with NEURA Robotics positions Sona Comstar to expand into advanced robotic and humanoid systems, leveraging NEURA’s expertise in cognitive robotics.
NEURA Robotics, founded in 2019 by David Reger, seeks to address innovation gaps and usher in the era of cognitive robotics. The company follows a “one-device” approach across its product range—from industrial to household robots—consolidating all central components and sensors for physical artificial intelligence into a single device.
“Behind this approach is the idea of a smartphone with arms and legs, combining all central components and sensors for physical artificial intelligence in a single device,” the filing noted.
Through its “Neuraverse” initiative, NEURA Robotics aims to create an iPhone moment for robotics, bridging the gap between technology and humanity. Its platform integrates basic cognitive abilities, safety protocols, operating systems, and an open development environment, enabling unprecedented scaling of robotic applications.
All technological innovations, including AI, are developed in-house at NEURA Robotics. The company’s cognitive robots possess sight, hearing, and touch, acting fully autonomously while learning from experience. This collaboration with Sona Comstar is expected to accelerate the deployment of industrial and humanoid robotic solutions in India and other targeted markets, reinforcing the role of intelligent automation in the manufacturing and logistics sectors.
