Kazakhstan Partners with AgiBot to Establish Humanoid Robot Production

Kazakhstan has announced plans to establish local production of humanoid robots through a partnership with China’s technology company AgiBot, combining robotics, artificial intelligence, and industrial manufacturing capabilities.

The initiative was presented at the Qazbot Robotics Forum in Astana and will focus on localizing technologies, developing engineering expertise, conducting research, and training specialists in humanoid robotics.

According to the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the project aims to create a full-cycle ecosystem connecting universities, scientists, and industry rather than simply introducing ready-made technological solutions.

Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, stated:

"Our task is not limited to introducing ready-made technological solutions, but to develop Kazakhstan's own engineering and scientific competencies. The production of humanoid robots should become a platform bringing universities, scientists and industry together into a single technological chain. This means a full cycle – from training specialists and conducting research to developing technological solutions and applying them in industry. This is the model of integrating education, science and production that we intend to scale up."

Kazakhstan is also developing its robotics talent base, with local universities currently offering 56 educational programs covering robotics, mechatronics, industrial automation, intelligent systems, and artificial intelligence.

Cooperation between Kazakh universities and AgiBot will involve researchers, lecturers, and students in humanoid robotics research, specialist training, and adaptation of advanced robotic solutions for Kazakhstan’s industrial sector.

The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University has joined the initiative as a research and systems integration partner. The collaboration reflects Kazakhstan’s efforts to build domestic capabilities in humanoid robotics, AI, and advanced manufacturing.
