SUNNYVALE, Calif., USA – March 14, 2026 – Intuitive Surgical, the maker of the da Vinci and Ion surgical robotics platforms, has reported a cybersecurity phishing incident that compromised certain customer and employee data, the company said in a statement.
“An unauthorized third party gained access to information through a compromised employee account in our internal business administrative network,” Intuitive said. “Information accessed included customer business and contact details, as well as employee and corporate data.”
According to the company, its incident response protocols were immediately activated, and all affected applications were secured once the incident was discovered.
“We took immediate action to assess and contain the incident, begin an investigation, review security protocols, and remind employees of online security training and processes,” according to the statement. Intuitive did not specify exactly when the incident was first identified.
The company emphasized that its surgical platforms, including da Vinci, Ion, and associated digital products, were not affected and remain fully operational. Its network infrastructure is segmented to ensure internal business applications and manufacturing systems operate separately from robotic platforms.
Hospital customer networks were also unaffected, as they are managed independently by the customers’ IT teams. “There has been no impact on our operations or the work we do to support our customers,” Intuitive added.
The announcement comes shortly after a cybersecurity attack on Stryker, which disrupted its global network and affected order processing, shipping, and manufacturing. Researchers have attributed the Stryker attack to an Iran-linked group called Handala, which claimed to have exfiltrated critical data.
