HD Hyundai Robotics Invests 13 Billion Won in Aidin Robotics for Heavy-Industry Humanoid

HD Hyundai Robotics has invested 13 billion won to acquire a strategic stake in South Korean sensor developer AIDIN ROBOTICS, securing key sensing technologies for humanoid robot platforms.

Announced on September 11, the collaboration combines AIDIN ROBOTICS' proprietary force and tactile sensor capabilities with HD Hyundai Robotics' heavy-duty automation platforms.

The partners plan to develop a specialized five-finger robotic hand (AIDIN-Hand) designed specifically for demanding shipbuilding and heavy-industry applications.

In addition to humanoid hands, the entities will jointly engineer robotic automation systems for complex surface-treatment processes, including industrial polishing and grinding.

Initial solutions will be deployed at domestic shipbuilding and heavy manufacturing facilities before expanding into broader Korean manufacturing sectors and U.S. shipyards.

An HD Hyundai Robotics official stated:

"We will combine the capabilities of both companies to develop Physical AI-based robotic solutions and expand strategic cooperation with promising technology companies."

AIDIN ROBOTICS designs tactile sensors that detect multi-axis force, an essential capability for dexterous manipulation in unstructured industrial environments.
