GAM Enterprises to Produce Schaeffler's PSC Gear Reducers for Robotics

ByAyshathul Mushrifa

GAM Enterprises has acquired selected assets of Schaeffler Ultra Precision Drives (SUPD) from Schaeffler, including intellectual property and technology to produce the PSC gear reducer product line.

Following the transaction, GAM established GAM-Melior GmbH, a new entity based in Hameln, Germany, to produce and support the PSC precision motion control product portfolio.

The PSC gear reducer serves as core gearing technology in GAM's flagship GPL product and is built specifically for precision motion control applications in robotics.

Craig Van den Avont, CEO of GAM Enterprises, stated:

"The acquired patented technology is revolutionary in that it outperforms all other servo gearboxes on the market, represents a highly differentiated solution for high-precision applications, and is a strong fit within GAM's broader motion control strategy. GAM intends to support customers of the PSC robotic gearbox product line and build on this technology platform over time."

Acquiring the IP from this core supplier enables GAM to vertically integrate its supply chain and expand its manufacturing capabilities across global automation markets.

Hartmut Hoffmann has joined GAM-Melior GmbH as Managing Director to lead the company's operations and oversee the continued development of the PSC product line.

Schaeffler previously acquired SUPD in 2022 when it was Melior Motion GmbH to expand its precision gearbox portfolio for industrial automation applications.

Founded in 1990 in Mount Prospect, Illinois, GAM Enterprises builds high-precision gear reducers, couplings, and custom motion control solutions for robotics, aerospace, medical, and semiconductor OEMs.
