Agility Robotics to Go Public in $2.5 Billion SPAC Deal

Agility Robotics has announced a definitive merger agreement with investment firm Churchill Capital Group to go public, evaluating the company at an impressive $2.5 billion value.
This historic transaction establishes the Salem, Oregon-based enterprise as the world's very first publicly traded technology business entirely dedicated to manufacturing and selling bipedal humanoid systems.
Spun out from Oregon State University, the business explicitly engineers its flagship Digit platform to automate repetitive, injury-prone warehouse tasks like carrying heavy storage totes.
Unlike traditional industrial hardware requiring heavy safety fencing, this nimble machine features birdlike leg mechanics designed to cooperate closely alongside human associates in standard workflows.
Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics, stated:
"The demand here is large and increasing. We have companies reshoring production, older workers retiring, and younger generations just not opting for these types of menial jobs. The capital from becoming a public company will help us accelerate commercial deployments and scale production of our next-generation Digit platform."
Strategic corporate backing includes prominent technology giants Amazon, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Foxconn, driving active deployments with customers like Toyota and Mercado Libre.
Management intends to allocate the newly acquired investment capital directly toward expanding field deployments and accelerating production lines for its updated Digit V5 variant.
Jonathan Hurst, Co-founder and Chief Robot Officer at Agility Robotics, stated:
"We've never set out to build a machine that looks like a person. Every aspect of Digit's design is driven by functionality, enabling the robot to perform practical work efficiently in real industrial environments."
As the broader embodied AI industry matures, the business plans to systematically extend its core functional footprint into hospitality logistics, commercial facilities, and elder care infrastructure.
