ByAyshathul Mushrifa

Agile Robots SE has acquired a majority stake in XNG Automation, an Indian factory and intralogistics automation specialist, to strengthen its presence in the country’s rapidly expanding manufacturing sector.

The investment will enable Agile Robots to combine its AI-powered robotics hardware and software solutions with XNG Automation’s system integration capabilities to deliver advanced automation solutions for Indian manufacturers.

Rory Sexton, Executive Director at Agile Robots, stated:

“Investing in and partnering with XNG Automation further strengthens Agile Robots’ position in the rapidly growing Indian manufacturing sector. It will enable us to access and serve more customers. Combining our advanced robotic hardware and AI software with XNG’s deep integration expertise means we can better support Indian manufacturing’s transition towards intelligent, AI-enabled production.”

Based in Bengaluru, XNG Automation employs 200 people and specializes in factory automation, intralogistics solutions, system integration, and machine vision technologies. It serves industries including consumer electronics, automotive, and electric vehicles, with clients such as Bosch and Toyota.

Rakesh Bhat, CEO of XNG Automation, stated:

“This collaboration with Agile Robots SE strengthens XNG Automation with world-class manufacturing expertise, resources, and global capabilities, enabling it to better serve customers and scale rapidly across India.”

Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Munich, Agile Robots has deployed more than 20,000 robotics solutions globally across sectors including consumer electronics and automotive. The company’s portfolio includes AI-powered robotic systems, the dexterous Agile Hand, and the Agile ONE humanoid robot designed for industrial applications.

The investment builds on Agile Robots’ growing operations in India, following the opening of a production facility in Chennai and regional headquarters in Bengaluru in 2024. Together with XNG Automation, Agile Robots aims to accelerate adoption of intelligent automation solutions across India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
