Morten Wierod

Morten Wierod is a lifelong ABB professional who joined the company immediately after graduating as an electrical and electronics engineer from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Raised in Norway in a family with deep ties to companies that became ABB, he has spent his entire career at the firm, rising through technical and leadership roles across multiple geographies including four years in China building local R&D and manufacturing capabilities. He joined ABB's executive committee in 2019 and led the company's two largest business areas before being appointed President and CEO in August 2024. Under his leadership, ABB announced the spin-off of its Robotics division as a separately listed company, deepened its decentralized operating model, and accelerated its AI and sustainability agenda. A straight-talking leader who champions speed, accountability, and direct feedback, Wierod has driven ABB's emissions reductions to 78% against a 2030 target of 80%, set from a 2019 baseline.
