Stabilus SE and Synapticon Partner to Mass-Produce Integrated Actuators for Humanoid Robots

Stabilus SE and Synapticon GmbH have entered into a strategic partnership to jointly develop and mass-produce integrated actuator systems for humanoid robots and next-generation industrial robotics applications.
The strategic collaboration builds on Stabilus' existing minority stake in Synapticon, held since 2021, and focuses on creating a modular product line covering humanoid robot joints across all size classes—from the head and wrists to the hips and knees.
Small-series production is scheduled to begin in 2027 at Stabilus facilities in Europe, with a planned expansion into large-scale manufacturing in North America as early as 2028 to support major humanoid robot developers.
Stabilus contributes mechanical engineering, global sourcing, industrialization, and high-volume automotive manufacturing expertise, while Synapticon supplies drive technology, robotics software, integrated sensors, and certified functional safety solutions.
Simon Fischinger, CEO of Synapticon, stated:

Actuators represent the single most value-intensive component group in humanoid robots, accounting for roughly 50% of overall hardware material costs with up to 30 integrated drive joints per humanoid system.
Industry projections estimate the global market for humanoid robotics will reach approximately $38 billion by 2035, driven by expanding industrial applications in automotive production and logistics environments.
