Omron to Acquire OnLogic for $675M to Scale Industrial Edge Computing and Physical AI Platforms

ByMohammed Thaif

Omron, the Japanese industrial automation manufacturer, has announced it will acquire U.S. industrial PC firm OnLogic and its parent company, Interlogic, for $675 million, according to a company news release.

The acquisition is intended to develop Omron's physical artificial intelligence services within its industrial automation business. OnLogic is a developer, manufacturer, and seller of industrial PCs, and Omron hopes to combine its high-precision control technology with OnLogic's hardware to develop physical AI platforms and expand its customer base in the United States.

OnLogic's parent, Interlogic, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Omron. OnLogic will continue to operate as an independent business, retaining its brand and current management team, the release said.

The transaction adds to Omron's recent efforts to strengthen its automation portfolio. In May, U.S.-based subsidiary Omron Robotics signed a collaboration agreement with Italian automation company Comau to develop automation services in industrial manufacturing.

Omron's shares were roughly flat in morning trading in Tokyo, compared with a drop of around 2.2% for the benchmark Nikkei 225.

The acquisition reflects a broader push among industrial automation suppliers to integrate computing hardware and edge intelligence into their control platforms as manufacturers seek to deploy physical AI systems across factory and logistics environments. By bringing industrial PC capability in-house, Omron aims to shorten development cycles and offer more tightly integrated automation solutions to North American customers.

The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.
