NEURA Robotics and NXAI Combine Physical AI Stack with xLSTM Architecture for Robot Memory

NEURA Robotics has confirmed a partnership with Austria's NXAI to develop a building block for the memory of cognitive robots, following last week's announcement that the German robotics unicorn would launch a multimodal foundation for physical AI.
Under the collaboration, the partners are combining NEURA's Physical AI stack with xLSTM, a recurrent architecture from NXAI that can efficiently maintain and update state over long sequences. NXAI plans to make its own model, based on the xLSTM architecture, available on the Neuraverse platform alongside NEURA's own foundation model, Neuron AI, in future.
The planned integration is intended to enable companies to tailor the NXAI model to their own tasks using the Neuraverse toolchain, test it in the NEURA Gyms and deploy it on suitable robots. Neuron AI remains NEURA's own multimodal foundation model and will continue to be developed independently, with the partnership adding an additional model option to the platform and including joint research. Companies retain control over their process knowledge and decide for themselves whether to share data and capabilities.
NEURA contributes its multimodal foundation models, robotics, sensor technology, real-world training data from the NEURA Gyms and the platform for industrial deployment. NXAI brings decades of AI research and a fundamentally different approach to recurrent intelligence and memory. In the long term, the partners aim for robots to not only perform individual tasks but build on their experience over time, aligning with the Neuraverse vision and the Robot Skill Economy.
David Reger, founder and CEO of NEURA Robotics, stated:
"A robot that truly helps in everyday life and in industry must be able to remember. With Neuron AI, we have the foundation. With Neuraverse, we are creating the platform on which other powerful AI approaches can also find their way into robots. Together with Sepp Hochreiter and NXAI, we are expanding this memory capability. Two European strengths, one goal: Physical AI from Europe, together for the world."
Prof. Dr Sepp Hochreiter, founder of NXAI, stated:
"Memory and experience are essential for robots to reliably solve tasks involving many steps. xLSTM is built for this; it is fast, memory-efficient and can maintain its state over long sequences. Together with NEURA, we are bringing this strength to Physical AI – from Europe for the world."
Founded in 2019, Metzingen-based NEURA develops cognitive robots that can see, hear, feel and learn, along with the software, AI and data infrastructure required for large-scale deployment. Founded in 2023, Linz-based NXAI is a DeepTech company focused on xLSTM models in time series and robotics.
