# KUKA Launches New Autonomous Mobile Robot Platform
September 4, 2025 (Germany) – KUKA has expanded its autonomous mobile robot (AMR) lineup with the introduction of the KMP 250P, a versatile platform designed to transport goods and components weighing up to 250 kilograms. The launch complements KUKA’s existing AMR portfolio, which includes platforms with payload capacities up to 3,000 kilograms.
“This high standard is very important to us. It ensures both smooth cooperation between humans and robotics and the safe transport of goods,” said Clemens Lauble, Product Manager at KUKA.
Key Features of the KMP 250P
- Payload Capacity: Designed to carry loads up to 250 kg, making it suitable for a wide range of intralogistics applications.
- Modular Compatibility: Shares accessories and charging options with the KMP 600P and KMP 1500P, facilitating the integration of multiple platforms within the same fleet.
- Advanced Safety Systems: Equipped with laser scanners and 3D cameras to provide 360-degree monitoring, enabling the platform to navigate around obstacles or stop completely when necessary.
- Flexible Charging Options: Supports both conductive and inductive charging methods for continuous operation.
- Fleet Management: Can be managed via KUKA.AMR Fleet software and supports the VDA 5050 communication standard.
- Energy-Saving Sleep Mode: Introduces a sleep mode to efficiently manage large fleets.
- Specialized Versions: Planned cleanroom and ESD variants cater to sensitive environments.
Looking ahead, KUKA plans to introduce a tugger variant, the KMP 250P-T, in 2026. This version will allow the AMR to dock onto transport trolleys from below and pull loads of up to 500 kilograms, further enhancing flexibility in intralogistics operations.
