Figure’s Latest Humanoid Robot Video Sparks Debate on the Future of Household Chores

Figure AI has released a new demonstration video showcasing its latest humanoid robot, Figure 03, performing a series of complex domestic tasks. The footage highlights a shift from industrial-focused applications toward more household-oriented capabilities, including object handling, cleaning, and coordinated multi-step actions.
In the video, multiple Figure 03 units are shown working together in a bedroom environment to tidy and organize a living space. The robots handle a mix of electronics, textiles, and household items with increasing precision, reflecting improvements in perception and motor control systems.
A spokesperson from Figure AI stated:
“We are building humanoids for the front lines of humanity, starting with the workforce and eventually moving into the home.”
The company’s latest progress highlights rapid improvements in vision-language models and real-time decision-making systems that allow robots to interpret their surroundings and respond dynamically rather than following fixed, pre-programmed sequences.
Compared to earlier prototypes, Figure 03 appears more refined, with smoother motion control and improved integration of sensors and actuators. These upgrades contribute to more natural and stable movement during multi-step household tasks.
Operating in home environments presents significantly greater complexity than industrial settings due to unpredictable objects, human presence, and safety requirements. Despite these challenges, the demonstration suggests that current hardware is increasingly capable of handling basic domestic workloads.
The video also implies potential future applications such as laundry, dishwashing, and floor cleaning, where humanoid robots could automate routine household chores if reliability continues to improve.
