Epson Launches AX6 Collaborative Robot, Completes Robotic Safety Portfolio

Epson Robots has expanded its 6-Axis robot lineup with the new AX6 collaborative robot, marking the company's entry into the collaborative robot segment and completing its portfolio of robotic safety tools.
The AX6 is designed to increase worker interaction through power- and force-limiting features that, with a proper risk assessment, can allow operation without traditional safety barriers. With its release, Epson now offers industrial robots that maximize speed and performance, collaborative robots that maximize worker interaction and redeployability, and industrial collaborative tools that balance both use cases.
Rick Brookshire, director of Product Development, Robot Development at Epson, stated:
"Collaborative robots have lowered the barriers to entry for many new robot users by simplifying programming and integration, while enabling new applications where space and user interaction are critical. With the introduction of the AX6, Epson can now address these applications while offering customers a complete range of robotic safety solutions."
The AX6 features easy-to-use no-code software and an intuitive user interface, combined with AX Portal collaborative robot software. Its compact, lightweight carbon fiber structure and ISO 5 cleanroom rating make it suitable for collaborative applications where space and controlled environments are critical.
Additional features include a customizable Python development environment for uploading custom libraries and modules, industrial kinematics for generating straight-line, curved or joint motions, end-of-arm multifunctional user buttons with teach functionality, an end-of-arm Ethernet port and pneumatic connections, support for 100 V to 240 V AC and 48 V DC power sources, a multicolor status LED ring, and a 3D simulator for testing programs before deployment.
The AX6 is now available through Epson Robots' channel of distributor partners. Epson Robots is a global leader in PC-controlled precision factory automation, with over 250,000 units sold worldwide and a product line of hundreds of models of SCARA and 6-Axis robots based on a common PC-based platform.
