Agility Robotics Splits CFO-COO Role as It Prepares for Public Listing

ByAyshathul Mushrifa

Agility Robotics has separated its combined CFO-COO leadership structure into two executive roles as the humanoid robotics company prepares for its planned public listing through a merger with Churchill Capital.

Michael Beer joined Agility Robotics as Chief Financial Officer in July, taking over finance responsibilities from Jennifer Hunter, who previously managed both finance and operations. Hunter will now focus exclusively on operations as the company scales manufacturing and commercial deployments of its Digit humanoid robot.

Beer’s immediate priority is preparing Agility for its transition into a public company while supporting future growth. The Salem, Oregon-based company is pursuing a proposed SPAC merger valued at approximately $2.5 billion, which is expected to provide more than $600 million in gross proceeds.

Peggy Johnson, CEO of Agility Robotics, said in a press release:

"Michael brings outstanding public company finance and capital markets experience, while Jennifer, with her prior experience as a publicly traded COO, will focus exclusively on scaling our operational excellence and manufacturing capabilities."

Beer previously served as CFO and head of corporate services at Energy Vault and held finance leadership roles at FreeWire Technologies and Luminar Technologies. His experience with public market transitions will support Agility as it completes the merger process.

Agility has confidentially filed its Form S-4 registration statement and is expanding investor relations and other corporate functions ahead of operating as a public company. The company recently opened a 60,000-square-foot facility in Fremont, California, to accelerate development of AI technologies supporting its Digit humanoid robot.
